Examples of Real-Time UAV Data Processing with Cloud Computing

This article explores cloud-based data processing object detection for future anti-collision system and georeferencing. At present, data processing from Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) is based, in most cases, on sequential image acquisition and subsequent processing, but there is a demand for real-time resolution.

UAV Arctic Challenges and the First Step: Printed Temperature Sensor

This paper presents an extensive collection of technical and operational challenges associated with Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) operations in the Arctic. Some of the challenges are valid for Antarctic, severe, winter, and near- winter weather conditions. The collection of challenges was developed by analyses of a great number of practical applications of UAVs.

UAS (drone) Arctic Challenges: Next Steps

This paper develops further the overview of technical and operational challenges associated with Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) operations in the Arctic. Essentially, many weather-relevant challenges are similar in other climate zones. Due to the lack of research on the Arctic particularities, the overview of included references to generic UAS challenges and considerations. Both collections of challenges, technological and operational, are revised and updated. For most of the listed challenges, the appropriate researches are introduced as entry points to the more specific research areas relevant to the given challenges.

UAV Management System for the Smart City

In this paper a collection of technical solutions and results of simulation, supporting the concept of management of a small group of unmanned aerial vehicles such as drones, are presented. The focus is given on collision avoiding and communications. The anti-collision system utilises the drone camera and is built on the Robot Operating System using the Histogram of Oriented Gradients and the Support Vector Machine. The proposed inter-drone communication employs ZigBee for system management and telecommunication networks for data exchange and teleoperations.
